FEES:
The deadline to postmark your envelope is Tuesday, Nov. 27; be sure to mail your entry before the final time at the post office. Check the final cut-off time at the post office. (The last time to postmark at the S. 40th Ave. Hattiesburg location is 6 PM); include check & entry forms or pay by PayPal or credit card online. Entry fee is $15; each piece entered into the judged show is $5 each; each piece in the clothesline sale is $1 each. All fees are non-refundable. Volume discount package: $36 for five artworks plus 3 clothesline pieces. (Regular price is $43.)
COMPLETE ENTRY FORMS MUST BE MAILED BY THE DEADLINE. All fees are non-refundable.

SALES: SMAA retains 20% of the price of artwork in the judged show and 10% in the clothesline. Mississippi sales tax of 7% will be added to the price of all artwork sold. All artwork must be for sale; minimum price for judged show entries is $100. Maximum Price for clothesline is $99.
COMPETITION CATEGORIES:
1. Acrylic and Oil
2. Drawing (pastel, pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, colored pencil, or any combination of these)
3. Photography
4. Watercolor
5. 2-D and 3-D Sculptural Works (pottery, wood-turning, stained glass, etc.)
6. Other (mixed media, collage, fabric art, digital art, etc.)
7. All categories will be considered for the Best of Show and People’s Choice Award
CLOTHESLINE SALE:
An artist must have at least one piece in the judged show to submit clothesline pieces and may enter a maximum of 3 clothesline pieces. Clothesline art will not be judged. All art work must be original. Entries may be in any medium; they are not restricted to the judged show categories. Entries may be matted or framed. Use plastic wrap to protect your art work. Unframed canvas and 3-D art are also acceptable. Maximum price on clothesline entry is $99.
COLLABORATIVE ART WORK:
Art by two collaborating artists will be allowed. Collaboration is to be artist with artist, not teacher with artist. Both entrants must be SMAA members. Both artists must complete an entry sheet. A collaborative entry counts toward the maximum number of entries of one or the other artist (there will be a check box on the entry form). Any sales or award proceeds would be divided between collaborators.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Eligibility is limited to SMAA members whose dues are current on or before envelope postmarked November 27, 2018. New and renewing membership dues MUST be submitted in the envelope unless paid online on the Membership Portal at www.southmississippiart.org by Nov. 27, 2018. 1. Content of artwork must reflect locally accepted community standards. Please email the Show Chair regarding questions you have about community standards and artwork which can be accepted. (pambreazeale@yahoo.com).
2. Only original art work is accepted (no prints in judged show); all work must be the original concept of the artist. Prints are permitted for clothesline.
3. For the judged show, work must have been completed in 2016 or later. No previous SMAA award-winning works are allowed.
4. Each artist may enter up to 5 pieces of artwork in the judged show.
5. All work must be dry and safe to handle.
6. All hanging pieces must be securely wired with screw eyes and picture framing wire. If you provide a stand or holder for glass or 3-D pieces, the stand or holder will be considered part of the artwork unless it is clearly and securely marked as not part of the piece.
7. Each entry must be labeled on the back with the name of the artist, the title of the work, the medium used, the category, and the price of the work. Make sure the information is complete!
8. Registration deadline: Postmark by November 27, 2018
9. The entry form must be completely filled out and signed by the artist. Submitting an entry implies consent to the use of images of the work in materials which promote the show and SMAA.
10. You should receive confirmation of your entry at check-in on Dec. 6. 2018 at the Historic Hattiesburg Train Depot.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER:
1. All artwork must be checked in on Thursday, Dec. 6 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
2. Only the SMAA hanging committee places work in the exhibit; please respect this requirement.
3. Artwork in the judged show must remain on display until the end of the show, unless it is sold.
4. If anyone other than the artist will pick up, you MUST email pambreazeale@yahoo.com or text 601-467-7707 to notify Show Chair to ensure we allow only an authorized person to pick it up. No verbal notifications, please.
4. If less than 3 artists enter in a category, the number of awards will equal the number of artists entered.
All artwork must be picked by Monday Dec. 10 between 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. You can also pick up your art at closing time the day of the show, but you must be there at least 15 minutes before closing time. Unfortunately, there are no facilities for holding artwork for later pickup.
LIABILITY:
Although great care will be taken in handling all works of art, neither the SMAA nor the host property owners assume any responsibility for damage, theft, or loss of any artwork. Artists are advised to obtain their own insurance.
